The Michelmersh and Timsbury Horticultural Society has over 70 members with approximately half this number attending each meeting. The meetings are usually held in the Jubilee Hall, Timsbury on the second Monday of the month, at 7:30pm. Garden visits are also organised.
The Society holds 3 shows, Spring, Rose and Annual, where members display the results of their hard work. The Annual Show alternates between a 'Mini Show' with a reduced number of classes, and the full show, which is combined with the Funday. Other organisations areinvited to join in with their own (fundraising or not) events, making it a village day to remember. There are some photographs of previous events in the Gallery. The entries are judged by visiting judges and a number of trophies awarded. Show Schedules are given to members when they pay their subscription.
Very popular with everyone is the Annual Plant Sale. Members pot up their surplus plants, which are sold at very reasonable prices. Look out for the advertising in May.
Visitors are welcome at meetings and shows, a charge of £2 includes refreshments. New members are always welcome. The annual subscription is £6 (school age members £3) - this doesn't include refreshments! Membership enquiries may be made by email, or just come along to a meeting.   |
