This group of modern artists has been meeting in the Village Hall
every Wednesday since 1989 when it was formed
by fifteen painters (plus a tutor) who had met at Southampton
Institution while pursuing a fine art course. |
The group has really flourished and is now well acknowledged
in local modern art circles. As various founder members have left,
the group has been reinforced by artists from other colleges
and disciplines which has broadened the field of expertise and
the emphasis is now focused on all forms of contemporary art.< |
Although the group no longer has a permanent tutor the members ensure
during each term there is a session with a professional
lecturer plus a short talk on art history/or crit by a practising artist.
TMP also holds its own in-house workshops, crits and talks
by members on their special interests.p |
Exhibitions of the group’s work are held from time to time
and most members have individual interests/exhibitions of their own.
