Local Green Spaces

National planning policy* enables a community to designate an open area close to a settlement as a Local Green Space (LGS) in their Neighbourhood Plan. This
means that the area would be protected from inappropriate development.
So we have the opportunity, in our Neighbourhood Plan, to designate Local Green Spaces in and around our village and we are asking for your ideas about this.
To designate an area as a Local Green Space we will need to provide evidence to show why the area is ‘demonstrably special’ to our community and holds a particular local significance, based on factors including beauty, historic significance, recreational value, tranquillity and richness of wildlife.
So we need more than ‘opinions’, but as a starting point we need to know which open areas the village values most and would like to be protected. Then our Consultants can review the feedback and assess what evidence can be put forward to support the designation of the most-valued areas as Local Green Spaces.
So please look at the map and judge which of the numbered open areas (or any others in or close to the village that are not shown) you particularly value and would think should be protected.
